Shantanu Roy is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi, New Delhi, India. Prior to joining IIT Delhi as a full-time faculty in 2004, Dr. Roy was employed at Corning Incorporated in New York.

Prof. Roy's research interests include computational flow modelling of multiphase reactors, non-invasive imaging of multiphase flows, and process intensification through monolithic and structured reactor systems and microreactors. Specifically, he has worked over three decades in the use of radiotracers and radioactive isotopes for flow monitoring in multiphase reactors, for which he has also been recognized as a Technical Expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He has worked extensively with oil and gas companies on topics related to process intensification, reactor performance enhancement, reactor optimization, solid-to-liquid fuel conversion, and, more recently, on decarbonization projects.

Prof. Roy has more than 100 original research publications to his credit, 6 patents, and over 200 peer-reviewed conference presentations, of which more than 20 are invited keynote / plenary talks in recognition of his work.

Prof. S. Roy has served as the Associate Dean Academics during 2016-19, and Dean - Academics at IIT Delhi during 2019-22. Prof. Roy has served on the technical committees of several international conferences, has co-chaired two major international conferences, and has served on the editorial boards of several international technical journals. Prof. Roy has been chairperson and member of several high-level committees of the Government of India. Since 2022, Prof. Roy has been involved in the establishment of IIT Delhi's first overseas campus in Abu Dhabi, the UAE. He currently serves as the Executive Director of IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi.
