Kaushal Kumar Maurya is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IITD-AD). His research lies at the intersection of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Artificial Intelligence for Education (AI4Edu), Multilingual NLP, and Responsible AI. He develops trustworthy and inclusive language technologies that evaluate and support learning, teaching, and decision-making, with a particular focus on multilingual and low-resource settings. His work explores how insights from human learning can help build AI systems that better support education and human-AI collaboration.

Prior to joining IITD-AD, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Scientist at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Abu Dhabi, UAE, where he worked on LLMs, reasoning, and AI for education. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Hyderabad, where his research focused on multilingual language generation and low-resource NLP. During his doctoral studies, he held research internships at NVIDIA, Shizuoka University (Japan), and Microsoft India (R&D), contributing to machine translation and safe query suggestion systems.

His research has been supported by a Google Academic Research Award (2024, co-PI), recognized through a Best SAC Paper Award at NAACL 2025, and featured by the Emirates News Agency (WAM). He has published in leading NLP and AI venues, including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, EACL, COLING, SIGIR, CIKM, and ECML-PKDD. His long-term goal is to develop AI systems that make high-quality learning support and language technologies more accessible, trustworthy, and beneficial across diverse languages, cultures, and communities.
