Biosketch

Ashok completed his schooling under the CBSE Board, followed by a B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Physics from the Department of Physics, BHU, Varanasi, India. He completed his Ph.D. at the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, in 2009. He received training at the University of Sheffield, UK; the University of Groningen, The Netherlands; and the University of Oulu, Finland. He gained postdoctoral experience at the Department of Biophysics, Johns Hopkins University, USA, during 2009-2013. He joined IIT Delhi as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and is currently serving as a Professor since 2026 at the School of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi. Ashok's basic training is in structural biology, molecular biology, biophysics, biochemistry, and chromatin biology. As an independent investigator at IIT Delhi, his research is focused on understanding virus pathogenesis, identifying antivirals against virus infections, vaccine development, and anticancer drug development.
