Prof. Soutik Betal is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi. He did his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas – San Antonio, Texas, USA and have postdoctoral research experience at universities across USA and Europe. His research interest is in the field of nanorobotics, magnetic nanomachines, medical devices and brain signal-controlled prosthetics & assistive technologies. He has achieved a Guinness World Record for inventing the world’s smallest medical robot of size 120 nanometres. Over the past several years, he has developed several nanoscale devices for targeted cancer treatment & spinal cord injury recovery, wearable health monitoring devices, nanogenerators for energy harvesting and wireless power transfer. His research group are also working on EEG system integration with smart prosthetics and virtual reality devices to develop pioneering assistive technologies.
He currently leads and collaborates on several interdisciplinary and multi-institutional research projects, including a nanorobotic drug delivery system and lab-on-chip development, epidural electrical stimulation technique development using nanorobot-based injectable implants for spinal cord injury recovery and assistive technology development for blind and hearing-impaired people.
