Rahul Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), since June 2024. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Haifa, Israel. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the IIT Kanpur in 2022. His doctoral dissertation developed new statistical tools that advance inference for ordered data, with connections to extreme value theory and applications in environmental sciences, risk assessment, and reliability analysis.
Dr. Singh’s research focuses on Bayesian methods, inference based on ordered data, nonparametric procedures, inference in stochastic gradient descent, paired comparison models, and ranking under cyclicity and intransitivity. He has published in several reputed journals. His recent JRSS-B publication on least squares for cardinal paired comparison data provides a new methodology for analyzing ranking data in complex decision-making contexts.
At IIT Delhi, Dr. Singh teaches both foundational and advanced courses in probability and statistics, and supervises projects at the B. Tech., M. Tech., and Ph.D. levels. He has also actively contributed to his department in various capacities, such as website coordinator, DRC member, etc.
