Prof. Shashank Bishnoi is Professor of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and Vice Provost - Operations at IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi. His expertise spans cement chemistry, sustainable construction, and the durability, repair, and strengthening of structures. He earned his Ph.D. in modelling cement hydration from EPFL, Switzerland, an M.Eng. from the University of Tokyo, and a B.Tech. from IIT Kanpur, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at EPFL and Laval University, Canada.
Prof. Bishnoi has authored over 80 journal papers, 160 conference publications, and led more than 380 industry- and government-sponsored projects for organisations including CPWD, L&T, NBCC, the Indian Air Force, RBI, and the Governments of Norway and Sweden. He has advised the Supreme Court and High Court of India, the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi Police, and numerous global companies such as Holcim, Lafarge, and JK Lakshmi.
India's lead for the development of Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3), he drafted the LC3 standard for the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and chairs BIS CED 06. He represents India at ISO TC327 and TC328 and contributes to rewriting IS 456. Internationally, he serves on multiple technical committees, editorial boards, and is the Scientific Chairperson of ICCC 2027. He also oversees IIT Delhi’s Technology Resource Centre in Africa, supported by Spectrum Impact, which advances LC3 adoption across 10+ African countries.
