Biosketch

Vireshwar Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi, New Delhi, India. Prior to joining IIT Delhi as a full-time faculty in 2020, Prof. Vireshwar was employed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Purdue University in West Lafayette, USA.

Prof. Vireshwar works closely with Khosla School of Information Technology, Bharti School of Telecommunication, and Center of Excellence in Cyber Systems and Information Assurance at IIT Delhi. He is also an Adjunct Faculty at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Surat.

Prof. Vireshwar's research interests include anatomizing the network protocols employed in cyber-physical systems (e.g., smart homes, cars, and drones) for security and privacy vulnerabilities, and then mitigating them with innovative defence mechanisms. He focuses on developing advanced intrusion detection systems capable of safeguarding systems against state-of-the-art AI-based attacks. He also develops efficient and secure authentication mechanisms for bandwidth and energy-constrained devices. Further, he investigates techniques for preserving privacy of sensitive user data while ensuring real-time data integrity and availability guarantees.

Prof. Vireshwar's research work has featured in top-tier security venues including Computer and Communications Security, Network and Distributed System Security, and Usenix Security. He has also been granted 2 US patents on technologies critical for securing vehicular networks.

Prof. Vireshwar has served on the technical program committees of several international conferences. He has also co-chaired several tutorials and workshops in India. He often engages with researchers in the security domain through his invited talks at workshops organized by Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), ACM, and IEEE.
