Preamble
Increasing carbon emissions pose an existential threat to life on
Earth. To mitigate this threat, it is crucial to develop
technologies that can effectively reduce CO₂ emissions by providing
viable, near-term solutions. This requires thinking beyond
traditional paradigms and adopting a multilevel perspective that
fosters learning, experimentation, and breakthroughs in the energy
technology landscape. By cultivating an environment conducive to
innovation, disruptive changes are anticipated, paving the way for a
desirable and sustainable energy transition.
IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi is leading this effort by convening experts from
both industry and academia for a three-day intensive workshop
focused on the future of carbon resources. The workshop will offer a
multidisciplinary platform for researchers and professionals to
explore cutting-edge advancements in decarbonization strategies,
with a particular focus on molecular, process, and systems-level
innovations.
In addition to addressing key aspects of carbon capture, the
workshop will highlight sustainability and circular economy
principles by exploring the reutilization of captured carbon to
create value-added products such as fuels, chemicals, and materials.
Advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), will
also be examined as transformative tools to optimize material
discovery, enhance process efficiency, and enable systems-level
integration. Through these discussions, participants will gain
valuable insights into how these technologies can work together to
develop scalable and sustainable solutions for decarbonization.
